Why the padrón comes first

Most other procedures (health card, schools, sometimes the TIE) ask for your padrón certificate. Do it in your first days, and book the TIE appointment at the same time, because the one-month deadline runs from the day you entered.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a TIE if I stay less than six months?

No. If your stay is under 180 days, the visa covers the whole stay.

Can I drive on my foreign licence?

Yes, for at most six months after becoming resident. After that, without an exchange agreement, you need a Spanish licence with a test.

Is my progress sent anywhere?

No. The ticks are saved in your browser only.
